Fashion! Put it all on me!

Ms. Lady Gaga went out shopping in London. She is outrageous, over-the-top and not to everyone's taste. I however, think that no one can touch Kanye and her for outright maddening fashion.

Gaga Style

Lady Gaga continues her mission to take over the world. Her she is on the cover of weekend fashion rag, Style. She looks like a white, blonde, future version of Alicia Keys no? Anyway, her style is a nice change from seeing the Jessica Britney What's-her-names of the world who typically don velour track bottoms tucked into Uggs- yuck. I want her and Kanye to collaborate.

Favorite NYFW Collection #2: Jason Wu

Fit for a First Lady.

Jason Wu shot to stardom after Michelle Obama donned his gown for the seemingly endless night of inaugural balls. The ivory, single strap gown, now infamous and widely mimicked, was right on trend without seeming overtly fussy.

I think it's great that Michelle O is going to young, upcoming designers for her wardrobe. After eight horrible years of seeing Laura Bush wear an endless parade of stiff and stuffy Oscar De La Renta pieces, having Michelle O as First Lady is great change. I really have faith that Michelle O will carve out what it means to be First Lady the same way Hillary Clinton did during the Clinton administration.

Politics aside, here is Wu's F/W 2009 collection. The designs are edgy or complicated or even groundbreaking, but they are accessible and wearable for a large cross-section of women- the new Michael Kors?

Comme des Garçons

"Dressed smart like a London bloke
Before you speak his suit bespoke
And you thought he was cute before
Look at his pea coat; tell me he's broke!"
-Estelle ft/ Kanye West- American Boy

Watch Kanye. Watch Kanye's friends. Watch their luggage. It's Louis. Do I spot Hermès?

I'm not one to have sneaker envy, but Kanye's line for LV is making me yearn. Hard.

Here he is with his entourage (BFFs?) outside the Comme des Garçons show in gay ol' Paree.

And this is them after a run-in with Aretha.

Posh for Armani

Following her hubby, Golden Balls, Vicky B. has decided to bare almost all for an Armani knicker advert.

Adobe Photoshop also deserves an award for making Posh look almost human, a human painting anyway. These images look almost painted- intentional?

Golden Globes 2009

So another award season is in the midst, and here are my favourites from tonight's show. Before I get into it, I noticed a lot of neutrals such as taupes, beiges, tans and dull metallics like warm silvers. If people ventured into colour, it was cobalt blue or in Cameron Diaz' case, a bright pinkish-coral (a big trend I predict this s/s 09). As always, black is always the safest but this year was all about detail, accentuating curves by cinching or draping and there was a lot of tiering. As for jewellery? Everyone used Turquoise (the stone or colour) for 'pop' against neutrals. Transferable to us mortals come Spring? I think so.

So who is my pick for best dressed? Well, I would have to make it a tie. And like night and day, these two choices couldn't be any different.

Evan Rachel Wood wearing in Elie Saab. This gown oozes sophistication and luxury. I love the detailing and was a definite show stopper while remaining subtle.

And then there was J.Lo...looking like...J.Lo for the first time in years. Smoulder much? This gold Marchesa gown touches on the now-infamous Versace dress she wore to the Grammy Awards years ago.

The riskiest dress of the evening belonged to Maggie Gyllenhaal who worse this modified 80's Power-Bitch ensemble from Lanvin's 2009 resort line. It reminded me of Dynasty for all the right reasons. An unconventional leading-lady and actress, it takes someone with a quirky, eccentric take on fashion to pull this off and I think she nailed it.

Otherwise, shoulders were left pretty bare.

Eva Mendes wearing a very origami/architectural inspired dress which really resonated with me upon first glance.

Beyonce is always hit or miss for me, and here, I think that the bead work and detail really accentuates her famous curves. Once again, it's Elie Saab.

Drew Barrymore did it up her way too- in custom made (by Mr. Galliano himself) Dior. This grey design, along with the retro-tousled do and crimson clutch, stood out amongst a sea of 'safe.'

And the gents...?

Zachary Quinto wins for my vote for best dressed man of the evening.

Haute!

Clémence Poesyn, French model-cum-actress, donning Haute Couture from a few selected houses for Black Book Magazine. Like most often, Chanel & Gautier, to me, stand out.

1. JACKETS, JACKETS, JACKETS! Do yourself a favor and go out and get an over-sized blazer and one black/gray motorcycle jacket...I want a motorcycle jacket REAL bad. I passed up on one I almost bought- except it was wool and not ~leatha~.

2. Asymmetry is the new symmetry. Think Comme des Garcons.

3. Black and gray denim is your friend. Trust.
