Bad Romance

I love Alexander McQueen. His stuff is never safe and always re-imagines/marriages gothic and romantic with contemporary and avant-garde. Here is his complete S/S 2010 collection from Paris Fashion Week. Just LOOK at the shoes! The prints are so intricate and the silhouettes...speechless...I've never seen such shapes before.

Now if only someone could get the man himself a stylist.

Gaga, Ooh La La

Alexander McQueen followed Burberry's cue and streamed his latest collection (s/s 2010) live from Paris Fashion Week. His shows are known to be just as inventive and avant-garde as his designs. This was not exception . The CCTV, cranes, large screen and crazy shoes...oh my.

Pay special attention to the level of detail and design. It's really admirable.

The show caused a ruckus not only because McQueen is a mad genius and this shows are hotly anticipated or because of the fetish-themed shoes...but because a few hours before the show, Lady Gaga twittered (@LadyGaga) that the mastered version of Bad Romance will finally surface during the show. This may not be news to many but for any Gaga fanatic this is breaking news worth an RT.

The song is the first single off of The Fame re-release, The Fame Monster, out November 24th 2009.

Rodarte S/S 2010

The shoes are killer. Rodarte's shoes are always just...other-worldly. But what I picked up more than anything is the deconstructed and innovative use of garments and textiles. I will always say that Rodarte is a European design house stuck inside the bodies of two California-born women.

I'll post pics of the shoes in a separate entry...but here is the entire S/S 2010 collection.

And the accompanying playlist if anyone is interested:

British Sea Power- Man of Aran
Clark- Primary Balloon Landing
The Gaslamp Killer- Weeping, Waiting, Gnashing of Teeth Forever
Depeche Mode- Personal Jesus (Rodarte Edit)
Health- Die Slow

Matthew Williamson S/S 2010

I love every piece in this collection. It's so Matthew Williamson and yet, a little bit grown up. The fit and cut and craftsmanship are all stunning. The colours? Luminous. The shoes? Superb.

Normally, I hate, nay, loathe cutouts in garments but he has done an excellent job with all the peekaboo cutouts. This collection is of-the-moment yet classic and still true to Williamson.

Anyone else see a Balenciaga influence? Missoni in some of the fabrics? Amazing.
