Lady V.0

The morning after the Marc Jacobs/V Magazine VMA after party, Lady Gaga headed into the studio to shoot a few looks with Max Abadian. So what do you think about wearing a tee with your face on it? What if it's your face pop-arted out and wearing Marc shades?

Seen here is Gaga lookin' fierce as funk wearing a limited-edition V-shirt.

Lady V

I am almost breathless.

Mario Testino shot Gaga wearing Marc Jacobs, styled by Nicola Formichetti. The cover comes in two versions: one in which she wears electrostatic blue Marc Jacobs glasses and another in which she wears a pink pair of shades.

"When the Marc Jacobs pink hooded coat and glasses came down the runway, I knew there was only one person I wanted to see in it: Lady Gaga," editor-in-chief Stephen Gan explains. "Growing up as a kid obsessed with new wave, I would cut up paper sunglasses and put them onto celebs’ faces on magazine covers. These plastic peel-on and peel-off glasses come in pink and blue and are actually based on the Marc Jacobs ones that came down the runway!" So got that, kids? You can actually peel off Gaga's sunglasses and stick them on your own face. Former MTV veejay John Norris interviewed Gaga for the story inside the issue. She also posed for an editorial.

“Us Weekly putting me on a worst-dresses list? I couldn’t care less. If Karl Lagerfeld called me an ugly hag, then I’d be upset. Because it’s Karl Lagerfeld.”

“When I was a blonde, they called me Madonna. Then they called me Christina, then Gwen. I just don’t think most people’s reference points go back very far.”

Oh and Madonna checked out one of Gaga's NYC shows: “My sister texted me and she was like, ‘Madonna is 15 feet away from me.’ This is awesome! I just remember thinking, ‘wow, this is exactly what I wanted.’”

V does Swimsuit

I'm breaking a sweat.

6 models. 6 covers. V Magazine is doing its first swimsuit issue and V is not messing around. Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Daria Werbowy were all shot by Mario Testino. This entire shoot/series is amazing but the covers look homemade/badly photoshopped (see: Daria's hair). Regardless, Daria, Kate and Claudia look the best in my humble opinion.

AND For the ladies (and some men): Charles Devoe, Garrett Neff and Noah Mills (NSFW-ish...suggestive Cocke-a-Cola bottle).

On stands May 6th 2009.

Gisele in Stefanel swimsuit; Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet.

Kate in Maison Martin Margiela coat; David Yurman earrings.

)

(for the curious, I gasped at these 'pieces' the first time I saw them years ago...so odd):

Naomi in Cartier earrings and Yves Saint Laurent cuffs.

Claudia in Louis Vuitton swimsuit and the now-infamous Yves Saint Laurent cage boots. I didn't know they came in a wedge (or is that bad lighting/photoshop?). I was going to blog about them, but doing so is now almost...passe.

Grace Under V II

Earlier, I posted about Grace Jones on the cover of V. Well, here is the rest of the editorial that uses older images and artwork from Jones.

Grace under V

Grace Jones excites and scares me all at once. I remember being fascinated by her as a child- explains a lot. Her, Bowie and Prince always stuck out to me for their stage personas and costumes. Later, the appreciation for commanding a stage drew me to Madonna and Micheal (and Janet!) Jackson.

Here she is on the cover of V Magazine being her usual scary, sexy self.
