"The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion"

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala was held in NYC last night, Monday May 4th 2009. While many played it quite safe this year, there were a few stand outs. The theme of the evening was "The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion."

Chanel Iman

Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss in a Marc Jacobs gold lame mini and turban designed by milliner, Stephen Jones.

Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Amber Rose and Kanye West

Coco Rocha and Isaac Mizrahi

Marion Cotillard (and do you see John Galliano in the background?)

Anne Hathaway channeling Barbarella, wears Marc Jacobs and looks great. Pour La Victoire metallic "Bethanie” strappy platform sandals and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels including "Camelia” earrings (catch the 5.8 carats of emeralds and diamonds). And finally, the between-the-finger “Lotus” diamond ring and the “Zip Paris Trocedero” diamond ring. Phew.

My girl, Posh.

Rihanna, in her first public appearance since Domestic Disturbia. Wearing Dolce & Gabbana.

Iman, minus Bowie.

Ashley Olsen wearing her own design from The Row.

Emma Roberts

Jessica Stam looking stunning in Rodarte.
