Big Love

Chloe Sevigny isn't everyones cup of tea. Effortless, odd-ball and unique.

Her show, Big Love, about polygamous Mormons and their complexities, families and lives (and businesses!) needs more recognition.

Great Heights?

Lady Gaga has a shoe fetish.

Look at these dangerous heels. I have no words. I can't help but admire her...and yet think she's completely nuts. Who am I kidding, I kinda worship her.

Kudos Lady Gaga, kudos.

Earlier in the week, she went out for dinner with Brit singer, Mika. She chose a little something more demure. Y'know...not to be showy or flashy or anything. She's amazing.

Obsessed with OBSESSED

I'm obsessed with the movie Obsessed starring Beyonce. I've been quoting the movie for days based on the trailer alone. Beyonce's acting is superb and merits an Oscar NOW. The film looks riveting, groundbreaking and award-worthy.

To appreciate this post:

1. Watch the trailer below. The whole thing.

2. Read the quotes out loud below the YouTube link after you've completed watching it.

3. Marvel at the glorious GIF of Beyonce head-butting Ali Larter. (Yes...head-butting).

In theatres April 24th 2009. Be there or be left square.

Lookin' Fresh Mr. West

This post features only minorities. From left to right: M.I.A. sans baby, Kanye West, Aziz Ansari and Zoe Kravitz (♥) being sweaty, kinda drunk and kinda hipster, at Coachella.

And just for Lindsay:

Mr. West lookin' fresh...he could kinda get it, right?

Pop Cult

Just when you thought the Single Ladies rage that swept the world (oh, and it did) was waining...here's a gathering of Single Ladies busting a move or two or three to Beyonce's epic single. It's to promote her tour and Trident gum. Watch this now and be first one at your office to send it around.

New addition

I hear orchids are hard to grow, keep and maintain. I tried anyway because I love them. They're so architectural and sleek. I've wanted a white orchid for so long (to go along with my black and white bathroom). Now, I just have to go out and buy orchid mix. They love humidity and steam...because of this, I take longer, hotter showers. I think that might be the anti-contribution of Earth Hour or going green. Fingers crossed, I hope my flower thrives.

Casual and cool...in $3,000 heels

Beyonce looks the best when she's not Sasha Fierce. She's cool, casual and actually naturally gorgeous. Here she is with Hova walking around NYC wearing "Spicy" Louis Vuitton heels.

Where were you on Saturday night?

Kingston is cooler than you

Kingston Rossdale is better dressed than most adults (and semi-adults) I know. I'm jealous. How can you not be? Does he have a stylist? Is her name Gwen? Any-hoo, he's always so well accessorized! Hats and sneakers and glasses and belts and all. Here are a few snaps of him frolicking and being adorable. Gwen's around too. Speaking of, I'm going to my first No Doubt concert in June. I cannot wait.

This is a Lady Gaga post

Gaga (we're tight like that) has been making the rounds, performing on her Fame Ball Tour. Along the way, she's been doing TV appearances and wooing (scaring?) unassuming audiences. She stopped by the Friday Night Project with Mr. Jonathan Ross and sipped some tea, acted kinda batty and performed Pokerface. Love her off...nay, I love her somethin' bad. Here is she wearing Balenciaga armor from s/s 07 (or was it f/w 08?). I could only dream of rockin' out while wearing couture armor. Sigh.

This is a Kanye West post.

Now that I've sent my book off to the printer, I finally have free time to post frivolous things that excite me. Or so I thought. My Internet died for a few days, leaving me disconnected from the blogosphere (hence the lack of ProRunCanada finale post). Alas, I've finally secured an Internet connection and here I am.

This blog is quickly turning into a Lady Gaga/Marc Jacobs/Kanye lovefest. I'm sorry, but other celebrities and designers just need to try harder. Until then, if you don't like what you're reading...then boo, you whore.

Kanye item #1:
Keri Hilson's album is worth listening to all summer. In Knock You Down, Keri seems to be stuck in a torrid love-triangle between Kanye and Ne-Yo. Thin plot aside, can we admire the styling in this video? Please? I want Kanye's jean-jacket, coral tee, leather glove combo NOW. Keri looks amazing too. I guess.

Kanye item #2:
Kanye wants you to know, caps and all: "OH AND YES THOSE ARE SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS ON BRANDON'S SHIRT BY DRIES VAN NOTEN." Here's Kanye in studio with Gwenyth Paltrow The Unabomber Jared Leto and Brandon Flowers.

Kanye item #3:
The return of Amber Rose! Here is Kanye being all model-y in the ad campaign for his sneaker line by Louis Vuitton. Ebony and Ivory...living together in perfect harmony.

Fashion! Put it all on me!

Ms. Lady Gaga went out shopping in London. She is outrageous, over-the-top and not to everyone's taste. I however, think that no one can touch Kanye and her for outright maddening fashion.

Making a Book

So I made a book. Yes, made.

I didn't just write it. I edited it (along with a slew of crafty ladies), copy-edited it, typeset it, chose the font(s), layout, design and the cover. I'm quite proud that I had the experience.

When I started the course, Making a Book, I really didn't know what to expect. Here I am, 13 weeks later. I can typeset, edit, clip, kern and Photoshop with the best of them (maybe not the best...but I can handle my own). I not only wrote every word within the covers, I actually conceptualized and designed the cover itself. Thanks to my own imagination, many of clicks of the mouse, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, the feedback of several people, patience and many, many, many cups of coffee, I finally have a cover I love.

So how does it feel? I couldn't tell you...yet. I'm still reeling from the anxiety of hitting 'send' when I finally submitted it to the publisher.

What's a book without a book launch?

June 9th 2009

I, along with Ashley and Krystal, are organizing the book launch event and hope to see many of you there. More details to follow over the next week. Save the date.

Gimme Sympathy

Who would you rather be: The Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

Metric's Fantasies is worth buying, stealing, borrowing, burning, listening and loving.
